Adam Shaw (1816-1886)

A very prosperous pioneer farmer in Ogle County, IL. Came west in 1836. He worked as a hired man for Henry Mumma until he could save enough money to buy his first parcel of land, 10 acres, for 10 dollars from Henry Mumma. Also operated the first blacksmith shop in Pinecreek Township but later sold it. At the time of his death he had extensive land holdings in Pine Creek Township. Probate and will located at Ogle County Courthouse Oregon IL. Estate #2478

Obituary:

Mr. Adam Shaw, an old settler living three miles southeast of here, died last Monday morning of dropsy. He was sixty-nine years old. He was a member of the Disciple Church of this place and much respected by all. Elder Carr being away, Prof. Sharp preached the funeral sermon.
