Funeral services for the late August Zumdahl will be held at the home, 409 West Dewey Avenue, at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with services at North Grove Church, near Forreston. Rev. Edwin A. Arends, pastor of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church will conduct the services and interment will be made in the cemetery adjacent to the church.

August Zumdahl, son of Frederick and Elizabeth (Schure) Zumdahl, was born near Forreston, Feb. 14, 1867. He was baptized in infancy and later confirmed by the Rev. William Biesemeier at the North Grove Evangelical Church of which he remained a faithful member.

He engaged in farming for 36 years. For about twenty-five years he was an active officer of the Forreston Mutual Fire Insurance Company. He served as school trustee of Forreston Township for many years.

He was united in marriage with Miss Anna Kilker, Feb. 20, 1890. To this union five children were born: George of Shannon, Elmer of Baileyville, Mrs. Luella Daniels, Mrs. Minnie Runte, and Benjamin of near Forreston. His wife preceded him in death Sept. 13, 1921. On Aug. 3, 1927 he was again united in marriage with Miss Hermine Ratmeyer at which time he took up his residence in Freeport.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, five children, one grand-daughter, seven grandsons, two half sisters; Mrs. Martha Herbst of Chicago, Mrs. Edith Kaney of Forreston, and one half brother, Edward Ratmeyer, also of Forreston. Three brothers, sister, and a half sister preceded him in death.
