Obituary of David Wolf

The remains of David Wolf, whose death occurred at Youngstown, Ohio, Sunday, March 28, accompanied by his sons, Oliver and Walter, arrived in Mount Morris on the train Wednesday evening last week and were taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles H. Allen. The funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Burl H. Candler, pastor of the church, and the body laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.

David Wolf was born in Mount Morris Township, five miles north of the village, March 25, 1851, and died March 28, 1920, aged 69 years and 3 days. He resided on the farm where he was born until 1895, at which time he moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where he resided until death, which occurred after a few days of illness from pneumonia. His sons arrived at his bedside several hours after he had passed away.

Mr. Wolf was married in 1874 to Miss Charlotte Thomas of Mount Morris Township, who died March 16, 1891. To this union were born two sons, Oliver of Moline, Ill., and Walter of Davenport, Iowa, both of whom were present at the funeral. In 1893 his second marriage accurred to Miss Sophia Feidt, who died July 2, 1895.

He was a member of a family of eleven children -- nine daughters and two sons -- and is survived by a brother, John, and four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Stover, Mrs. Charles H. Allen and Miss Emma Wolf of Mount Morris. and Mrs. Susan Thomas of Rockford, Ill.

Mr. Wolf was a man of genial character and during his residence in Youngstown made many friends among the most respected citizens of that city, who with his former associates here, were greatly saddened by the sudden and unexpected termination of his life. On several occasions since removal away Mr. Wolf made return visits to Mount Morris, which were always enjoyable occasions to members of his family as well as his many friends.
