Leaf River Man Dies in Rockford Hospital

Leaf River, March 12--Ernest Samuel Pyper, 70, a retired farmer who resided in Leaf River, died about 5 a.m. today in St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford, where he had been a surgical patient since Feb. 4.

Mr. Pyper was born Oct. 11, 1871, in Leaf River Township and had lived in this community practically his entire life.

He was married on Dec. 11, 1895, to Nora Belle Palmer.
Mr. Pyper was an active member of the Leaf River Christian Church and the Ogle County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Lula Avey of Mount Morris; two sons, Harold of Egan, and Herbert of Rockford; four grandchildren and two brothers, Chester of Leaf River, and Oscar of Chicago.
Two daughters have preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the home.
