Obituary: Beloved Mother Called - Death Claimed Wife of Ex-Supervisor, Clinton Bemis of Rockford home.

Many friends in this vicinity will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Bemis, whose life, with the exception of eight years, was passed in this vicinity.
Ida Hardesty, beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hardesty, was born October 14, 1855, in Pine Rock township, Ogle County, where she grew to womanhood and on January 25, 1875, was married to Clinton Bemis. Of this union seven children were born: Mrs. Clarence Hepfer, Mrs. James Hay, Joseph and Earl Bemis, of Oregon, and William Bemis, Mrs. Harry Jourdan and Mrs. Roe Millard of Rockford.
Mr. and Mrs. Bemis resided on the home farm in Nashua until eight years ago, when they moved to Rockford, where their home has since been made. Having passed the major portion of her life with comparatively little sickness, when a little more than ten weeks ago she was suddenly stricken with paralysis. She uncomplainingly and with utmost patience with strong hopes of recovery, endured her suffering to the end, appreciating every kindness shown her by her relatives, her nurse and those who called to see her.
She was greatly devoted to her home and her family, always manifesting much interest in her children. She spent very little time away from home. To those who came to her home from time to time, whether strangers or acquaintances, she had only kind words and accorded them gracious welcome.
Not yet having reached the allotted three score years and ten, and because of the tender ties that united her to her children, the death of this beloved mother seems indeed untimely.
She leaves to mourn her loss besides husband and children, two sisters, three brothers and sixteen grandchildren. She passed away at midnight, Dec. 7th, reaching the age of 63 years, one month and twenty-three days.
