The sad news of an accident last Saturday causing the death of Mr. John Jacobs Sunday night came to our ears Monday evening. He was applying some liniment to a horse's shoulder and the horse being loose wheeled around and kicked him in the stomach. We were old school-mates. He was buried in the North Grove Cemetery at the Christian Church. His home was two miles north of Adeline.

Cause of death: He was kicked by a horse causing peribonthis. Found in the Register of Deaths for Ogle County on Page 80. Date of Report: C-27 - July 9, 1888. Date of Death: May 28, 1888. Burial is in North Grove Christian Church Cemetery located on Mt. Morris Road, north of Summer Road. This is straight north of Mt. Morris on the Mt. Morris Road about 9 or 10 miles.
