7/11/1890 Forreston Herald:

Jonathan Wagner died at his residence, 5 miles northwest of Adeline, July 4th, 1890, aged 67 years, 5 months and 12 days. Mr. Wagner was born in Washington County, Maryland, January 23, 1823. In 1837 he came with his parents to this county, where on Nov. 16, 1848 he married Eliza Coffman. Their marriage was blessed with eight children--four sons and four daughters. Of them, six children, with his wife survive and were present at the solemn services.

The deceased was well known far and near. He was one of the oldest settlers in this county and being connected with one of the most numerous families in the county, the funeral was attended by many sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends.

The services were held Sunday, July 6th, 1890 at his late residence, where, from the porch, the undersigned spoke to the large assembly seated under the trees in the beautiful grounds surrounding the home, upon the Individual responsibility to God, that “God is no ??? of persons, but in every nation he that feareth Him and worketh righteousness is accepted with Him.” Acts 3.4.5.we laid him to rest in the family cemetery, three and one-half miles northwest of Adeline, until Jesus shall come to awake them that sleep.
