MRS. LAURA ZELLER DIES AT HOME NEAR BROOKVILLE

"Mother of Mrs. Samuel Vietmeyer and Harry Zeller Laid to Rest After a Long and Fruitful Life."

Mrs. Laura Knode Zeller, a former resident of Mt. Morris, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 20, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel Vietmeyer, west of Brookville, Ill., at the age of eighty-two years and two days. The deceased was born near Funkstown, Maryland, February 18, 1842, and grew to womanhood with her parents on the farm. On December 21, 1876, she was united in marriage to Joseph H. Zeller, and they made their wedding trip to Illinois, where they settled. Her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond thirty six years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss one son, Harry K. Zeller of Hagerstown, Maryland; and one daughter, Maude Vietmeyer of near Brookville. One son Roy, at the age of ten years, was taken to his eternal home. She leaves besides eight grand children, one sister, Mrs. Mary Santman, of Cedarspring, Maryland, and one brother, Bentz Knode of Funkstown, Maryland. Grandma Zeller was a member of the Lutheran church and was a firm in her belief during her entire life. She was quiet and refined in her ways. She was exceedingly ambitious and did beatiful needle work and during the forepart of this winter--in her last days--embroidered many handsome pieces of work for those she loved. She cherished company and greatly enjoyed visiting with her dearest friends. She was kind and affectionate and many are those who knew her best. She failed rapidly the last few weeks of her life and when on Saturday night she felt the end was drawing near, called the family to her bedside and putting her arms affectionately around them she whispered "good by" to each one. All that loving hands could do was done for her; she was tenderly cared for by her daughter and granddaughter, whom she dearly loved.
