Daniel Martin Everly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theophilus Everly, was born September 19, 1868 near Hagerstown, Maryland and died at his home January 22, 1949, after a lingering illness. At the time of his death Mr. Everly had reached the age of 80 years, 4 months and 3 days. His parents, Theophilus and Amy Travis Everly, came to Illinois when Daniel was but a small child. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of the Polo community, and worked in the carpenters trade. On March 9, 1898 Mr. Everly married Almeda Hurdle to which union there were born three daughters, who, with their mother, survive to give praise and thanksgiving to God for the love and companionsip which was their privilege with him. Mrs. Albert Summers of Mr. Morris, Mrs. Willard Gilbert of Polo, Mrs. George Berry of Redfield, Maine. Surviving besides his wife and daughters are; 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Edward, Frank and Harry, living in the Polo vicinity, 2 sisters, Mrs. Annie Baughman of Rock Falls and Mrs. Raymond Smith of Green, Iowa. When a young man, Mr. Everly joined the United Brethren Church and in later years when moving to Polo, he transferred to Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church of which he has been a faithful member for many years. The funeral service was held in the Emmanuel Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. E. A. Schmidt officiating. The pall bearers were chosen from Mr. Everly's class and were as follows: B.A. Mueneh, Howard Dennis, Frank Folk, George Boddinger, R. Sterenberg and Harry Paul.
