FORMER ESMOND RESIDENT DIED AT ROCKFORD

William Lamont was born at Wigtonshire, Scotland, April 15, 1848 and died at his home in Rockford March 16, 1925, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 1 day.
His boyhood was spent in New York State for a time, his parents later moving to a farm in Ogle County, Illinois. He ran away from school to enlist in the Union Army, Co. B, 4th ILL. Vol. Cav. and was discharged as a Corporal May 28, 1866.

For nearly fifty years he engaged in farming in Lynnville Township. Since then he has resided in Rockford at 1440 Jackson Street. He never married.

There are left to mourn his death three sisters, Mrs. Belle Bomp, Mrs. Mary Eychaner, Esmond, Ill., and Mrs. Agnes Ferguson, Mitchell, Neb., and four brothers, John, James and Robert Lamont of Esmond and Dr. Fred Lamont of Marinette, Wis. Mr. Lamont also leaves a host of friends as his kindly disposition won for him a warm place in the hearts of all who knew him.
"So long as we are loved by others, one would almost say we are indispensable."
