Abraham Motter 1828-1895

Abraham Motter was born in Lykens Twp., Dauphin Co., PA on June 3, 1828. He died at his home 2 1/2 miles northeast of Adeline, Friday evening, May 23, 1895, after an illness of several weeks. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Schmeltzer in 1848, who survives him. To them were born eight children, two of whom have preceded him to the better world.

Mr. Motter enlisted in Company A of the 64th Illinois Infantry Regiment, serving 17 months and taking part in 17 battles. Several years ago he united with God's people and during his last sickness he said that his Savior was still with him. The funeral at the Christian Church on Sunday afternoon was largely attended. Rev. Yeakle officiated.
