A.H. Warren, who is spending the remaining years of a life of labor in retirement on his fine farm, on section 32, Monroe Township, was born in Washington Co., N.Y., Nov. 10, 1825. His parents, Barton and Sarah (Clark) Warren, were also natives of the Empire State. While the father was on a visit West to see his son he was taken sick, and died June 2, 1867, and his remains were taken back to his native State, where they were interred. The wife and mother followed him to the land of the hereafter ten years later, Dec. 9, 1877. They were the parents of nine children, all of whom lived to attain the age of maturity. The gentleman whose sketch we give lived with his parents on the old homestead until he attained the age of 24 years, receiving the advantages afforded by common scholls, and assisting in the labors of the farm. After leaving the parental roof-tree he rented a farm near Hebron, Washington Co., N.Y., and for three years was occupied in its cultivation. At the expiration of that time he bought an interest in his father's farm, and was engaged for nine years in its cultivation, when he sold out and moved into the village of Hartford, Washington Co., N.Y. He remained in the latter place two years, and then, in the spring of 1865, came to this State and purchased 173 acres of land in Monroe Township, this county, where he is at present residing. Since he came here and purchased his land he has to a very considerable extent improved it by building, fencing and plowing, until the place presents an appearance second to none in point of cultivation, in Monroe Township. Mr. Warren was united in marriage with Miss Jane Bump, Nov. 28, 1849. She is a native of Hartford, Washington Co., N.Y., and was born March 3, 1828. She is the daughter of Jacob and Tirzah (Ward) Bump, natives of Hartford and Hebron, respectively, Washington Co., N.Y. Mr. Bump departed this life in 1876, and his wife resides in Hartford. Mr. and Mrs. Warren have one child living, Mary C., who became the wife of S.R. Sommers, and they reside in Lynnville Township, and are the parents of one child, a daughter, Georgie, who was born to them Dec. 18, 1856, and died July 28, 1877. Mr. Warren, in politics, is a believer in and supporter of, the principles of the Republican Party. He has held many of the offices within the gift of the people of his township, and socially is a member of the Order of Masonry.
