--Last Friday after a sickness of two weeks of cholera morbus, Alexander Smith, an old resident of Byron, departed this life. The funeral services were held in the Congregational Church Sunday afternoon, Rev. J. Gibson preaching the sermon. The remains were interred in the Byron Cemetery.
He was born in the state of New York, October 8, 1821. He was married in 1847, and moved from there to Illinois in 1868. He is the father of three children, the oldest, a son living in Topeka, Kansas, a daughter living in Iowa, and the youngest child was buried in 1865.
