Died--Alfred Hunter, at the home of Wm. Scovill, northwest of town, of paralysis, last Sunday evening June 15.

He was born in a village near Yarmouth Norfolk, one of the eastern counties of England. He was 23 years of age. His father and mother are both dead. He has three brothers and one sister still living in England. He was a quiet, well behaved, young man, and a willing worker, but of weakly constitution. His disease was blood-poisoning and paralysis. He was very kindly treated during his illness. His friends in England will be pleased to know that all that could be done for him was done by kind hearts and willing hands. In addition to the kind attention of the family with whom he lived, the boys from the old country, whence he came a year ago last spring, were quite devoted in their attention to him during the last few days and nights. It was quite pleasing to witness the respect shown at the funeral when a dozen teams in this busy season followed his remains to the Byron Cemetery.

The service held at Mr. Scovill's was quite impressive and profitable. Rev. J. Gibson read the 23rd and 90th psalms, and offered a prayer, during which a mellowing influence rested upon all present. A short address was given by Rev. Gibson. H. Scovill, Mrs. Wm. Scovill and Mrs. J. C. Woodburn sang very sweetly and tenderly, "I am Sweeping through the Gates," "Gathering Home," "It is well with my Soul," and at the grave, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."
