An Old Citizen Gone

"Grandpa" Allen Beebe, father of our esteemed citizen, N.W. Beebe, has passed from labor to rest. He was born in Rutland, Rutland Co., VT, July 8, 1784. He died in the township of Maryland, Ogle Co., Ill., January 29, 1876, aged 91 years, 6 months, and 20 days. Though so aged his faculties, remained measurable clear to the last. He was for many years a devoted Christian, and loved to hear and speak of Jesus. The fathers are passing away, and the young are being taken from the home circles. "Be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the "Son of Man cometh".
