DEATH CLAIMS TWO MT. MORRIS WOMEN

Mrs. Alydia A. Sprecher, Pioneer Citizen, Passed Away Saturday December 20, After Two Weeks' Illness from Pneumonia

Mrs. Alydia A. Sprecher, another of the splendid pioneer citizens of this locality, passed away Saturday, December 20, at her home, in Mount Morris, following an illness of two weeks from pneumonia.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. M. M. Sherrick, assisted by Rev. Frank McCune, were held at the Sprecher home Monday afternoon of last week. Burial was made in the family lot at Plainview Cemetery, her six sons acting as pallbearers.

Alydia Ann Palmer, daughter of John and Elizabeth Palmer, was born in Washington County, Maryland, December 23, 1838, and died December 20, 1919, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 28 days. At the age of seven years she came with her parents to Ogle County who located in the vicinity of Leaf River.

She was united in marriage to John Sprecher, January 8, 1857, who also came with his parents from Maryland, the death of Mr. Sprecher having occurred in recent years.

Mrs. Sprecher was a devout Christian from youth having been a member of the Christian Church until three years ago when she united with the Church of the Brethren. She was a noble wife and mother, well indowed in mind and heart. Her self-sacrificing spirit and her changeless devotion to her husband and children won the unceasing love of all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her passing from life nine children, six sons and three daughters, who are: John of Leaf River, Ill., George, Hugo, Col., Fred and Frank, Coffeyville, Kan.; Charles, Wentworth, Ella, May and Catherine who remain at home. There are also ten grand-children and three great-grand-children.
