Funeral services for Amos Rothermel, Sr., of Leaf River who died Monday at the home of his son, Amos, were held Thursday afternoon at the home in Leaf River and at the United Brethren Church in Adeline. Rev. B. C. Holloway of Stockton officated, assisted by Rev. B. L. Cave and Rev. J. W. Calow of Leaf River. Burial was in the Adeline Cemetery. Mr. Rothermel was 94 years old at the time of his death.

Amos M. Rothermel was born in what is now Lincoln Township, Ogle County, Illinois, August 28, 1842.

He was united in marriage August 10, 1864 to Eliza Shafstal and to this union was born seven children. His wife, three sons, and one daughter preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his departure, two sons and one daughter, George E. of near Adeline; Mrs. Daisy L. Piper of Clinton, Minn; and Amos W. of Leaf River. He also leaves 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, an older brother; Robert, of Marshalltown, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Martha Rinehart of Long Beach, Calif.; and a brother, Lewis, of Shannon, Ill; and many other relatives.
