Amy Travis was born in Boonsboro, Maryland, May 5, 1848. She was married to Theophilus Everly in 1866, who preceded her in death 18 years ago. She came to Polo, Ogle County in 1869, later moving to Pine Creek Township where she lived until her death Aug.28, 1935, aged 87 years, 3 months and 22 days. Ten children were born to this union, one son and one daughter dying in infancy. Those who live to mourn her passing, are, Ed, with whom she lived, Dan of Polo, Solon of Rock Falls, Frank and Harry of Pine Creek, Annie Baughman of Hetland, South Dakota, Lizzie Smith of Green, Iowa and Walter, whose whereabout are unknown. A brother, Frank Travis, of Polo, 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive. She united with the Church of the Brethren 62 years ago and lived a faithful Christian life until her death. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to her friends and neighbors in need. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, the Rev. Clinton W. Stauffer officiating with burial in the cemetery nearby.
