Forreston Herald: November 18, 1899:

Andrew F. Long, Deceased: Andrew Long, one of the the earlier settlers of Ogle County, expired at his home in Lincoln Township, two miles west of Haldane, Tuesday morning at 4 o’clock. He had been in apparent good health until Monday when he was afflicted with a severe stroke of paralysis at Dorman’s sale, from which he never rallied. Mr. Long was the son of Rev. Jacob Long and was born June 20, 1834, in Washington County, MD. His father came to Ogle County in 1845 and settled on the farm near Haldane, still occupied by him at the time of his death. In 1857 he was married to Miss Ann Marie Wallace and became the father of nine children, eight of whom are living. Mrs. D. H. Newcomer and Mrs. J.C. Muller of this township are among the surviving eight children. Mr. Long was a consistent member of the Brethren Church. The funeral will be held at West Branch tomorrow (Thursday) at 10 o’clock.
