Death Summons Dr. A. B. Atchison at Age of 49

Passing of Winnebago Physician occurs at Irvington, Ala. Tuesday Morning

Winnebago, Ill, March 9 - Dr. A. B. Atchison of Winnebago died this morning at the home of his friend, Dr. A. C. Gray at Irvington, near Mobile, Alabama. He became ill from overwork during the epidemic of influenza and went south a few days ago to recuperate. His passing is attributed to heart trouble.

Deceased was born in Monroe Center, Ill., January 11, 1871, and graduated from the Hahnemann Medical College, at Chicago, in 1889. His marriage to Miss Minerva Mansfield was an event of April 25, 1900 at Chicago.

Dr. Atchison practiced medicine in Stillman Valley for nine years immediately following his graduation and was located in Rockford for two years. Following a severe attack of pneumonia, he removed to Grand Bay, Ala., where he remained for two years with benefit to his health. He opened an office in Winnebago on June 28, 1916, which he continued until his death.

Ideals Were High

Endowed with an engaging personality and knightly courtesy, Dr. Atchison won the friendship of all with whom he came into contact by his sincerity and nobility of character. His ideals of his profession and of life were high and as son, husband, father and citizen he measured up to the most exacting standards. His passing at the zenith of his powers will be mourned by a wide circle of friends.

Besides his widow, Dr. Atchison is survived by three children, Miss Althea, a senior in Rockford high school; Archibald M. and Rosemary, his aged mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Atchison of Monroe Center, five brothers, Cecil Atchison of Rockford, and Samuel, John, Everett and Clarence Atchison of Monroe Center, and two sisters, Mrs. George Moore of Rockford, and Mrs. Roy Holmes of Poplar Grove, Ill.

Dr. Atchison was a member of the Masonic lodge of Winnebago. The body will be brought north for burial but friends have not been advised whether interment will be made at Winnebago or Monroe Center.

Funeral Rites for Dr. A. B. Atchison at Winnebago Sunday

Winnebago, Ill., March 11 - Funeral services for Dr. A. B. Atchison, who died Tuesday near Mobile, Alabama, will be held at the Presbyterian church here Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. John Gordon officiating.

Automobiles will convey the funeral party to the West Side Cemetery at Rockford, where the masonic burial ritual will be performed at the grave by Rockford members of the order.
