Daniel Fletcher Burke, Dixon Evening Telegraph (Dixon Illinois) 22 June 1945
The funeral of Daniel Fletcher Burke, 91, retired farmer, who passed away at 12:45 o'clock Thursday morning at St. Francis hospital in Freeport where he had been a patient for eight weeks will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
Mr. Burke was born Nov. 25, 1853 in Pa., and when he was nine years old came alone to Illinois to join brothers and sisters who had migrated to this area previously.
He was married in 1887 to Minnie Fearer, Polo. He operated a farm near Polo until about three years ago, when he retired and moved to Polo.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Steele, Seattle, Wash., Miss Stata Burke at home, and Mrs. Harold Hanes, near Oregon; a son Kenneth Burke, Freeport, and four grandchildren. His wife died about 10 years ago and a son, Elbert, eight years ago.Submitted by Jane Edson
