At Rest
All that is mortal of Uncle Daniel Slaughter lies at rest in the Flagg Center Cemetery. The funeral taking place from the house at 1:30 PM Sunday. Rev Otjen conducted the last sad rites and paid a touching tribute to the memory of the departed. Although the weather was very inclement a large concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to the final resting place. Mr Slaughter had been sick for quite a while but was considered convalescing and his death was a crushing blow to the entire community. He has resided in these parts since 1856 and endeared himself to a large circle of friends.
Daniel M. Slaughter was born in Coshocton, Ohio August 27, 1827. In 1851 he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Parks. Nine children being born to them.
The widow, together with seven children live to mourn the loss of a loving father and tender husband. The children who survive him are Mrs. W. E. Prentice, Jackson Tenn.; John F., Terrace, Col.; Dana; William, Akron, O; Mrs R. C. Tipple, Rockford, Ill; Vida M. and Stella M. who reside at home. The Independent joins in the heartfelt sympathy extended to the sorrowing family in their hour of bereavement.
