DEATH OF PIONEER
Ogle County Loses Three More of Her Early Settlers
Daniel Wagner, a pioneer of Ogle County, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Wm. Knodle, in Oregon, at noon, Tuesday, July 30.
The deceased was the son of Jacob Wagner and was born in Washington County, Md., in January, 1822. The family came to Ogle County in 1838. The old Wagner homestead is located in the Silver Creek district, northeast of Mount Morris, and here the family resided until the death many years ago of the parents. Daniel, the subject of this sketch, continued to live on the home place until about ten years ago, since which time he lived with his sister, Mrs. Wm. Knodle, the the same vicinity, until last spring when they moved to Oregon.
Mr. Wagner's final illness was of about a week's duration, old age bringing about his demise, he having passed his 85th birthday. Besided the sister above named, he leaves another sister, Mrs. Wm. Swingley, also of Oregon. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock today in Oregon.
