Obituary from the Leaf River, IL newspaper:

Another of the boys, who wore the blue in the 60's has answered the last roll call. David Huff was born in Centre Co., Pennsylvania in October 1836 and died at his home at Egan, November 10th 1915 at the age of 79 years.

He was married to Mary Ann Harner, July 7, 1855 to which union were born nine children, four sons and five daughters, four of whom survive him, three sons and one daughter.

The deceased was converted and united with the Liberal branch of the U. B. Church about 40 years ago of which church his membership continued to the time of his death.

He enlisted in his country's service in Company H, 34th Ill. Inf. in January 1864 and was honorably discharged at the close of the war.

The funeral was held on Saturday, November 13th, at the North Grove Christian Church. Rev. Robert Pittman of Capron officiating and was assisted by Rev. W. C. South.

Those who are left behind to mourn his loss are his widow, one daughter, three sons and many relatives and friends.

The pall bearers were old soldiers, some of whom had served in the same company with the deceased, Jos. S. Myers, Geo. W. Finkboner, E. F. Bressler, A. E. Schreiber, William Sloggett, and Geo. O. Proctor.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. May Ihne and daughter of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Mrs. Ihne being the only living daughter of the deceased and Mr. and Mrs. David Huff and two sons of Summit, South Dakota. The widow, Mrs. Mary Huff, who lives in Egan is expecting to remain at her home. Her son Sherman will continue to make his home with mother.
