Aged Lady Passes Away
Mrs. Druscilla Steveson, one of Leaf River's oldest citizens, died at her home here last Friday. Druscilla Thomas was born in Leaf River Township, June 11, 1841, and departed this life October 31, 1930, at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 20 days.
She was married to Benjamin Steveson, October 1, 1863, who preceded her in death 42 years ago. To this union were born five sons and three daughters, all of whom survive with the exception of one son, Arthur, who died at the age of 16 months.
The living children are Mrs. Annie Schelling, Katie and Albert at home, Elias of Green, Iowa, Irvin of Tucson, Arizona, Josephine of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Melvin of Rockford. One brother and one sister also survive, Theodore Thomas of Hampton, Iowa, and Mrs. Frances Gaffin of Oregon. There are ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years and was a kind and loving mother with many friends, who will mourn her loss. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the M. E. Church, Rev. Earl M. Edwards of Lanark, officiating. Burial in the Lightsville Cemetery.
