"E.O. Chaney--The body of E. O. Chaney who died yesterday after a prolonged illness with heart disease, will be shipped this morning to Rockford, Ill., where funeral services will be held and interment made. Mr. Chaney, who had been a resident of Missoula for the last 13 years, passed away at the family home, 320 East Main Street. Mr. Chaney was born July 1846, being 74 years of age at the time of his death. He was employed as a carpenter for many years, but later came to Missoula and for a time served as clerk at the Florence Hotel, then operated by his brother. He was a faithful member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Chaney has been dead for many years, but seven children survive: Roy of Kansas City; Clarence, a missionary in Burmah, India (sic); Ernest of Chicago; Marcus of Beloit, Wis.; Harold of Chicago; Stella of Rockford, Ill.; and a married daughter of Evanston, Ill. Three brothers, H. E. Chaney of this city; M. J. Chaney of Vermillion, S. D.; and G. W. Chaney of Newell, Iowa; and two sisters Mrs. E. T. Chandler of Missoula, and Mrs. J. S. Riggs of Denver, also survive."

Edward Osborn Chaney Obituary:FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT HIS BROTHER'S HOME E. J. (sic--should be "O") Chaney, Once Rockford Resident, Dies at Missoula, Mont., Thursday. Word has been received by Rockford relatives of the death of Edward J. Chaney, formerly of this city, at the home of his brother, Harry Chaney, of Missoula, Mont.
Mr. Chaney was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Osborn Chaney, pioneer residents of Ogle County and later of Rockford. He was engaged in the shoe business here until about 30 years ago when he moved to Chicago and later to Missoula, Mont. He was a member of a large family of brothers and sisters. The first break in the family was the death of a sister, Louise Chaney, which occurred last March.
The family at Missoula will bring the body to Rockford Sunday for burial. Funeral services will be held at the home of Harold Clarke, 1003 N. Second st. at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. R. S. Carman is to officiate and Mrs. Fred Carlson will sing.
Relatives who will attend the funeral are Dr. and Mrs. J. D. S. Riggs, the latter a sister, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. E. K. Chandler, another sister, Missoula; brothers, Morris Chaney, Vermillion, S. Dak.; George C. Chaney, Newell, Ia. (sic--should be George W. Chaney); two sons, Rev. Roy Chaney, Kansas City, Kans.; Marcus Chaney, Beloit, Wis.; Ernest Chaney, of Chicago; and daughter, Stella C. Chaney, who has been making her home with Mrs. J. L. Clarke, 939 N. Second St.
One son, Herold Chaney, Chicago, and a married daughter living in Evanston, and another son, Rev. Clarence Chaney, of Rangoon, Burmah, will be unable to come.
Cousins of Mr. Chaney living in this city are B. J. Chaney, of E. State st., Miss Sarah Chaney, of Jefferson St., and Mrs. Clarke, of N. Second St."[Rockford Republic, 9 Apr 1921, p. 14]
