Edward Coffman obit, Herald and Torch Light (Hagerstown, Maryland) 12 Dec 1889
Mr. Edward Coffman, a pioneer settler of Ogle County, Illinois died of typhoid pneumonia at his home in Pine Creek Township, Ogle County, on Monday November 25, after an illness of ten days. Deceased was born in Washington, Maryland, May 1, 1819, and immigrated to Illinois when twenty years of age. In 1841 he married Miss Catherine Price, who was also a native of Maryland. For forty years he was a member of the United Brethren church, and his reputation was that of a sincere Christian and an excellent citizen. Mr. Coffman had accumulated a large estate. The funeral which was very large, occurred at Mount Morris, Illinois on Wednesday November 27. He leaves seven children, Mrs. Susan Davis, Charles and Gilbert Coffman, of Ogle County; George Elliott of Homer Nebraska; Mrs. Urilla Kline of Manson Iowa; and Mrs. Laura Gelwix of Thayer, Kansas.
