Obituary:
"March 11, 1827--September 9, 1899:
Mr. Edwin Rice died at his home in Kings Saturday, September 9, 1899, aged 72 years, 5 months and 29 days. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon, and was largely attended by friends and relatives. The services were conducted by Rev. Gabriel. The remains were interned [sic] at White Rock Cemetery. Mr. Rice was born in New York State. His boyhood was spent in the states of New York, Michigan and Ohio. He moved to White Rock Township, Ogle County, Illinois in 1837, where he has always resided until his death. He is one of the oldest settlers in the county. In 1862 he maried Miss Emma Eyster. He leaves a widow, two children, Mr. C. A. Rice and Mrs. George Grant, and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his loss."
