Mrs. Emanuel Wagner, Former Resident of Mount Morris, Passes at Mount Carroll
Mrs. Emanuel Wagner, a sister to John, Benjamin and Andrew Fridley of this place, and an old resident of Ogle County, passed away last Wednesday at her home in Mount Carroll. The Mount Carroll Mirror has the following to say concerning her:
At 2 o'clock this morning death entered another Mount Carroll home, this time removing the aged mother. Mrs. Emanuel Wagner passed away at that hour. The cause of death was dropsy. She had been in poor health for some time, but it was only recently that her sickness assumed a dangerous stage. For several days she hovered between life and death, and her passing away was sorrowfully awaited.
The deceased was 76 years of age and numbered among our old settlers, she having resided here for over a quarter of a century. The family came to this place from Ogle County. Her husband died about six years ago. Several grown children remain to mourn their mother's departure.
The body was brought to Leaf River Thursday and then transferred to the Silver Creek Church, where services were held at 10 A.M. The discourse was preached by Rev. Eisenhise of Mount Carroll. Burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. Many from this vicinity were in attendance at the funeral.
