Mrs. E. W. Swan died on Saturday, Oct. 21st, from consumption, which she has suffered with for a considerable time. The funeral took place from the Congregational Church on Sunday and was largely attended by friends and neighbors, the services were conducted by Revs. Braddock, Smith and Hartman, the remains being followed to the cemetery by a long procession of loving friends.
Mrs. Swan's maiden name was Ella Mesick; she was born in Cayuga Co., N.Y., Jan. 2, 1851, and was 32 years of age at the time of her death. Her parents moved to Rockford when she was but three years old, where they lived a short time and then removed to Byron Township and she has lived here since that time. She was married to E. W. Swan April 13, 1867, and was the mother of five children, four of which are now living, the oldest being fifteen years of age. She had been confined to her bed since the latter part of July, and although surrounded by kind relatives and friends, who did all that could be done to alleviate her intense suffering, and having the best medical attendance, no hopes were entertained from the first of her recovery. The family have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends.
