Mrs. M. Cawley Passes Away
The remains of Mrs. Michael Cawley arrived from Mason City, Iowa, on last Wednesday afternoon over the C. & N-W R.R., accompanied by her son, Edward, and the funeral was held from the Catholic church on Thursday morning. Mrs. Cawley left Rochelle Sept. 29 to visit her son in Iowa, and at that time was enjoying good health. On Sunday, Oct. 10th, she was taken sick with neuralgia of the stomach, a disease of which she was subject to. Her condition was not considered alarming. Two hours before she died she was setting up conversing with the family and within moments before she died she was planning her return trip home.
Ella Jackson was born in the county of Mayo, Ireland, June 15, 1832. She came to this country and located at Rochester, N.Y., where she was married to Michael Cawley May 29, 1853. They moved to Rochelle in November, 1854, where they have made their home until their death. Mr. Cawley died in July, 1896. Eleven children were born to them, ten of which survive them and were present at the funeral.
