Mrs. Ellen Curran, wife of George B. Curran of Belvidere, aged 76 years, passed away last Friday after a long illness. Mrs. Curran was a sister of the late William H. Leary, and the family formerly lived in this vicinity. Funeral services were held at Belvidere Monday morning and were attended by a number of local relatives, including the Moses, William and Harry Leary families, Mrs. Clyde Day, Mrs. H. L. Kennedy, Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Barry. Miss Mary Cook, 42 years old, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cook of near Westfield Corners, also died last Wednesday and was buried at Seward Saturday. Her mother was a sister of the late Mrs. Leary, and local relatives also attended this funeral.

Well Known local woman, Mrs. George Curran passes away at late home on South State Street after extended illness following paralytic stroke-Resided here 39 years-Last Rites Monday.

Mrs. Ellen Frances Curran, wife of George Curran, 1415 South State street, passed away Thursday night at 11:20 o'clock at the family home after an illness of five months that followed a stroke of paralysis. She had resided in this city for the past 39 years and her death is mourned by a wide circle of friends.
She was born July 4, 1858, in Leaf River Township, Ogle County, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Leary. On July 25, 1882, she was untied in marriage at Springfield, Ohio, to George Curran. For many years the couple resided in Byron before locating in Rockford where they lived for two years preceding their removal to Belvidere. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Surviving besides the husband are the following children: George E., of Rockford; Mrs. Catherine Piel, Miss Agnes Curran, Mrs. Florence Brady and Miss Alice, all of Belvidere and Mrs. Helen Sullivan of Dixon, Ill. Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. A son, Thomas, passed away Feb. 9, 1929.
There also survives David Gorman, who was raised by the Currans from childhood and who is now a resident of Muskegon, Mich. He was always regarded as one of the family and beloved as such.
Last rites will be held Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the home and at 9 o'clock at St. James church. Interment will be in St. James cemetery.
