MRS. GERA WATTS DIES AT AGE 54
WAS A NATIVE OF THIS TOWNSHIP AND SPENT HER LIFE IN THIS VICINITY.
Husband and Four Children Survive -- Was Member of Brethren Church Since Early Girlhood--Was a Splendid Woman.
Mrs. Gera Watts, a well known and greatly respected resident of this community, died quite unexpectedly at her home, three miles south of Mount Morris, at an early hour last Friday morning. Mrs. Watts suffered an attack of influenza last winter which left her with a weakened heart although she was able to go about her home duties in much the ususal way and the suddenness of her death from heart failure came as a great shock and grief to her family.
Emily Wallace, daughter or Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wallace, was born in Mount Morris Township, December 16, 1865, and died at her home in Pine Creek Township May 7, 1920, aged 54 years, 4 months, aqnd 21 days.
She was united in marriage December 24, 1885, to Gera Watts, who with four children are left to mourn the calling away of a kind wife and mother. The children are: Robert R. Watts, Charles A. and Misses May E. and Effie N. Watts, who remain at home. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Lewis Wallace of Three Forks, Mont., John D. Wallace, of Smyrna, Fla. The sisters are Mrs. W. H. Miller and Mrs. Henry Bearman of Mount Morris.
In early girlhood Mrs. Watts united with the Church of the Brethren and has been a faithful worker and zealous Christian through the years that have followed. Greatly attached to her home circle and as a kindly friend and neighbor she will be sadly missed.
The funeral services were held in the Brethren Chapel in Mount Morris on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, a large concourse of friends and neighbors gathering to pay their last tribute of respect. Rev. Frank McCune, assisted by Rev. Wayne Gerdes, conducted the service. Interment was made in Oakwood.
