EMMA C. PALMER DIES

Emma C. Palmer passed away Wednesday, June 16, [1954] in the home of her son Paul, rural Leaf River.

She was born Aug. 2, 1870, the daughter of Joseph and Adeline Kendel. She was married to Henry W. Palmer, who preceded her in death in 1936.

Mrs. Palmer had lived her entire life in this community. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church and a Charter member of Leaf River Grange.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Grace Light, Leaf River; Mrs. Vaida King, Mt. Carroll; Mrs. Wilda Benson, Jackson, Mich; two sons, Howard of Minonk, and Paul, Leaf River; a sister, Miss Ella Kendall [sic] and a brother, John Kendel, both of Leaf River; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Christian Church, with the Rev. Charles Lowder, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. R.V. Strole. Interment was in North Grove Christian Cemetery." [source: Vaida Palmer King's clippings]

LEAF RIVER - Mrs. Emma Palmer, 83, died Thursday in the home of son, Paul Palmer, rural Leaf River.

Mrs. Palmer was a lifelong resident of Leaf River and the widow of Henry W. Palmer.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Wilbur Light, Leaf River; Mrs. Paul King, Mount Carroll; Mrs. Theodore Benson, Jackson, Mich; two sons, Howard, Minonk, and Paul; a sister, Mrs. [sic] Ella Kendle, and a brother, John Kendle, both of Leaf River; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. (CDT) Sunday in the Congregational Christian Church. The Rev. Charles Lowder, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in North Grove Christian Cemetery.
