Emma Pipher (Piper) Dies in Dakota

Emma S. Pipher, formerly of Leaf River, late of Selby, S.D., passed away at her home, Sunday, January 4, 1931. Remains were brought to Leaf River by her son, Henry, at whose home she lived. The deceased, the daughter of Henry and Lydia [Beeler] Palmer was born June 8, 1853, at Leaf River. She grew to womanhood in this vicinity and was married December 26, 1872 to Zachariah C. Pipher, who passed away some thirty-eight years ago. To this union, three sons were born, who survive her, Henry G., of Selby, South Dakota; Edwin A., of San Jose, Calif., and Carl W., of Oak Park, Ill. She leaves to mourn, two brothers and three sisters, all of Leaf River, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Christian church of Leaf River, January 7, Rev. R.W. Pittman officiating. Interment in Lightsville Cemetery.
