MRS. EMMA POTTER DIES SUDDENLY.

Was Prominent in Brethren Church Circles and Highly Respected As Citizen and Neighbor

Another Christian mother, Mrs. Emma Potter, was called to eternal rest Friday morning at the home of her son, Floyd, who resides northwest of Mount Morris.

The news of her passing came as a surprise and shock to her many friends. While she had not been in the best of health, her condition was not considered serious until early Friday morning when a doctor was called. He had been gone but a short time when she collapsed and died within a few minutes. Chronic heart trouble and dropsy were given as the contributing causes.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Brethren Church with her pastor, Rev. G. L. Wine, assisted by Rev. W. E. West, in charge.

The large assemblage of mourners present bore mute testimony to one whose life reflected only good, and whose kindly ways will not soon be forgotten.

Emma Long Potter, daughter of John and Caroline Long, was born in Leaf River Township, March 23, 1866, and died at her home in Mount Morris Township, Jan. 28, 1927, at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 5 days.

She joined the Church of the Brethren in February, 1887, and lived a consistent Christian life.

She married Edwin Potter, Feb. 23, 1893. To this union was born two children, Floyd, who lives on the home place, and Maurice, of Dixon, Ill.

Her husband died about two years ago. Also her mother, father and a twin brother, Ernest Long, who died at the age of 42, preceded her in death.

Those left to mourn her loss are two sons with their wives, three grand-children, one sister, Mrs. Fred Gaffin, Leaf River, Ill., and one brother, C. F. Long, of Leaf River, Ill.

The family wishes to express thanks to neighbors and friends for kindness shown to them in the death and burial of mother and sister.
