EUGENE HOGAN DIES
Eugene Hogan, son of Michael and Phila Howard, was born November 18, 1858, on a farm northwest of Byron.
He was united in marriage with Lydia Jane Wagner, March 23, 1884. Most of his life was spent in farming, on a farm one and one-half miles north of Byron. After retiring in 1915, he moved to Rockford and five years later to Weslaco, Texas. He returned to Rockford 22 years later. The last two years he has made his home with his children, Mt. and Mrs. Elmer Stukenberg, Byron.
He passed away at the Rockford Memorial Hospital, February 27, following an illness brought on by a hip injury resulting from a fall.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Stukenberg and Mrs. Elva Anderson, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Pauline Taylor, all of Byron; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Riley of Pecatonica, and Mrs. Olive Winslow of Rockford. One brother, George, preceded him in death on February 25 in Colorado.
Services in his memory were held in the Byron United Church by the Rev. James M. Haggerty. The interment was made in the Byron Cemetery Sunday afternoon, March 2.
