Mrs. Euphemia, wife of James Catanaugh, died at Byron, Jan. 22, 1887, aged 68 years and nine months. Her maiden name was Campbell. She was born in Argyleshire, Scotland, March 15, 1818. When a small girl she emigrated with her father to Canada. She was married to James Catanaugh Sept. 27, 1844 in London, Canada. They came to Illinois and located at Marengo in 1851; moved from thence to Rockford where they resided a short time, and then went to Dixon. In 1854 moved to Byron where they have resided ever since. She had been indisposed in health for some time, but her last sickness was but of a few days duration. The funeral service was held in the M. E. Church and the sermon was preached by Rev. J. H. Thomas, from Job 21: 23-26.
