DROPS DEAD IN LOCAL STORE
_________

FRANK MULLER A VICTIM OF HEART DISEASE.
__________

Demise of Pioneer Who Resided in Mount Morris Township for Half a Century.
___________

"Death came very swiftly Saturday afternoon shortly after three o'clock to Frank Muller, for fifty years a resident in this community. He was just on return from attending a sale of personal property given by William Shank residing in the east part of the village and entering the hardware store of Price & Blair, seated himself by the stove and engaged in conversation with others who happened present (sic). Suddenly without warning he was stricken and despite the most heroic treatment given by Dr. Bywater, who was summoned in a moment, after a few gasps for breath he died, the cause of his sudden ending being pronounced heart failure.

Mr. Muller was troubled some with his heart and shortness of breath at times but it was not considerd of a serious nature and he remained quite active and vigorous, going about his daily affairs without a word of complaining and the suddenness with which his life went out came as a great shock not only to his family but a host of friends. While Mr. Muller was coming away from the sale a heavy fall of snow driven by a strong wind set in and Mr. Muller with others ran a short distance to get out of the wintry blast. It is thought that his perhaps excited his heart too greatly, aggravated somewhat by suddenly entering a warm room.

Mr. Muller was born in Burckerville, Alsace, France, May 30, 1839, and died May 1, 1909, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 2 days. When about 18 years of age he came to Mount Morris locating in the north part of the township. He started in life poor but by industry and good management became the possessor of a farm which three years ago he sold to Henry Bierman and with an ample competency retired from farming and purchased a home in Mount Morris to spend with family the remainder of his declining years.

Throughout his life Mr. Muller enjoyed the respect of those who shared his acquaintance. He was a home man first of all but gave as he could to appeals of charity from those less fortunate. His Christian spirit was wide and broad and while not loud in the profession of the faith, his many kindly acts if so chronicled will be in goodly evidence at the final recording.

Mr. Muller was united in marriage August 24, 1864, to Miss Annie Klock of Mount Morris Township. At death he is survived by his wife and five children, viz: Frank of Parkersburg, Iowa; John, Schleswig, Iowa, Mrs. Rolland Willier, Fairchild, Wis., Mrs. Malcomb Breaw, Pecatonica and Miss Lena remaining at the home. Besides these remains a brother of the deceased, Jean Muller of Winona, Minn., and two sisters yet residing at the old home town in France.

Brief funeral services were held from the home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock after which the remains were conveyed to West Grove German Reformed Church, Rev. L. Ford, pastor of the Lutheran Church preaching the funeral discourse, interment following in the family lot in West Grove Cemetery.

The family wish to extend thanks for the kindly attention shown by neighbors and friends in their great affliction."
