Frank Tice Is Called Lat Week at Home in Rockford After an Illness of Short Duration

Was Prominent in Civic Affairs Locally for Some Years -- Final Rites Conducted Here Friday

Frank Tice, a native of this community and for many years prominent in its activities, died at his home in Rockford on Wednesday of last week after a short illness. After leaving Mount Morris in 1919, Mr. Tice successfully conducted a community grocery, although much of the time he suffered from poor health.

Funeral services were conducted last Friday morning at the home by Rev. H. M. Brannen of Rockford Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. C. H. Hightower preaching the sermon and the music being furnished by the girls' quartet of that church. Interment was made at Oakwood.

A large assemblage of friends and relatives gathered to pay final tribute to the deceased, who gained and held friendships easily with his innate sense of humor and honesty in business dealings. Six nephews, Maurice Tice and George Funnell, of Rockford, Lowell Baker, of St. Louis, Louie Peifer, of Chicago, and Dallas Baker and Forest Shaw, of Mount Morris, acted as pall bearers.

Frank, son of Frank and Catherine Tice, was born on a farm near Forreston on Sept. 30, 1863, and died at his home in Rockford on Dec. 24, 1930, at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 24 days. With his parents he moved to Mount Morris in 1892, where he was active in many civic affairs.

He was united in marriage to Miss Susie Baker of Mount Morris on Jan. 25, 1899. In 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Tice moved to Rockford, where he resided until death. Mr. Tice was one of six children, all of whom have passed to their reward with the exception of Mrs. O. W. Shaw of this city.
