HARM A. GENANDT DIES

Harm A. Genandt, 84, a resident of the Adeline community most of his life, died Saturday morning in his home following an illness of two weeks.

A native of Germany, he was born June 30, 1860, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reinder Genandt. He came to the United States when he was seven years old and had farmed near Adeline before moving to the village at the time of his retirement.

On January 23, 1890, he married Johanna Hagemann, who died January 20, 1901. He married Elizabeth Borneman December 18, 1902.

Besides his widow, he is survived by 11 children, David, Simon, and Benjamin, all of Leaf River; Mrs. Alvina Sell, Akron, Oh.; Louis, Egan; Herbert, Mount Morris; Pvt. George, stationed at Brookfield Tex.; Sgt. Harold, at Fort Jackson, S. C.; and Mrs. Adella Stukenberg, Mrs. Gladys Meyers, and Ivan, all of Adeline; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, David, Santos, S. D.; and a sister, Mrs. Hilda Arjes, Forreston.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the DeGraff Funeral Home, Forreston, and at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Church of Adeline. Rev. R. B. Strole of Rockford officiated. Burial was made in the Adeline Cemetery.
