"Death of Mrs. Peter S. Good"
DIED-At the home of Riley Irvin in Polo, Thursday, December 31, 1903, Mrs.
Peter S. Good, aged 66 years, 1 month and 27 days.

Harriett Miller was the daughter of Simeon (sic) Miller and was born November 4, 1837 in McVeytown, Mifflin county, Pennsylvania, and peacefully passed away at 6 o¹clock in the morning of the last day of the old year, surrounded by her family of five children.

The subject of this sketch came west with her mother, brothers and sisters (her father having previously died in the East) about forty years ago, and settled on a farm near Haldane, Ogle county, Illinois. About thirty-eight years ago she was united in marriage to Peters S. Good, and to this union were born seven children, two of them (Alice and Clarence) died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Prudie Valentine, Oregon, Illinois; Harry Good, Lanark, Illinois; Benjamin Good, Shannon, Illinois, Mrs. Anna Irvin, Polo, Illinois; Harvey Good of Haldane, Illinois. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her loss one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Joseph Good, Polo; Vance Miller of Mt. Morris and James Miller, near Polo. The deceased lost her husband by death four years ago, and two years ago she left the old homestead, five and one-quarter miles northeast of Polo, and came to this city to live. Shortly after moving to Polo whe went to Lanark to visit her son, Harry, and while at his home she had a slight stroke of paralysis and was also afflicted with a cancer on her breast.

Last February she came to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Riley Irvin. While she never recovered from her sickness, she being of a very ambitious disposition, never gave up until about a week before her death when she became bedfast. Mrs. Good was a woman who was highly respected, and was a devoted mother. She was conscious of her condition and realized that death was near, but met it bravely and was perfectly willing and ready to go. She united with the Lutheran church in Polo in 1883. The funeral services were held Saturday, January 3, 1904 at the Lutheran church at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Paul B. Holtgrave, officiating. The burial took place at Fairmount cemetery beside her husband. The pall bearers were Smith Manzing, Benjamin Kauffman, George Bittinger, Lester Brand, John Betebenner and J.A.
Schreffier."
