James B. Coffman

James B. Coffman was born Oct. 27, 1856, near Mount Morris, Ill., grew up there and came to Nebraska in 1879, settling on a ranch near Adams. Two years later a brother Salathiel joined him and they formed a partnership in the farm and livestock business. When the brother came to Lincoln in 1909, he remained in Adams where he was a member of Plumb Line lodge No. 214, AF &AM. He belonged to the Scottish Rite and Shrine in Lincoln. Twelve years ago failing health obliged him to retired and he had since lived in Lincoln with a niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. George Levi. He was an able business man a faithful attendant of the Presbyterian church in Adams. He died April 13, 1939 in Lincoln.

Surviving are two brothers, S. Coffman of Lincoln and John C. of Polo, Ill.; a number of nieces and nephews in Lincoln, Illinois and California, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held April 15 at Rovers, Rev., W. M. Swartzwelder officiating. Lincoln lodge No. 19, AF& FM conducted Masonic rites at the grave in Wyuka.
