DEATH OF JAMES T. REILLY AT OREGON
Long-Timed Resident of County Seat Succumbs to an Affliction of the Throat.

Reporter: The death of James T. Reilly, for many years a well-known resident of this community, occurred Wednesday evening, February 15, at his home in Oregon, he having succumbed to a cancerous condition of the throat, which became manifest during August of last year and rapidly assumed an acute tendency. Last autumn, he submitted to surgical measures, which while affording temporary relief, failed to arrest the development of the malady. James Thomas Reilly was born October 21, 1858, at Chambersburg, Pa., and came to this locality during his early manhood. His marriage to Lena Spratler occurred in 1889 in this city, where their entire married life was passed and to which union were born six children, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Withers, Mt. Morris, Mrs. Margaret White and Mrs. Emily Harkness (Harkreader) both residing in Rockford, and three sons, Charles, James and Bernard living at home.

He was the last of a family of nine children. Aware of the sinister nature of the malady to which he succumbed, he faced its outcome with fortitude and resignation. The funeral was held Saturday from the home, the obsequies being conducted by Rev. George H. Williams, pastor of the Oregon Presbyterian church. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.

PASSING OF JAMES RILEY
Succumbed to Disease After Lingering Illness
James Riley, for forty years an honored and respected resident of this city and vicinity, ceased from his sufferings on Thursday last, the result of serious disease that fastened upon him nearly a year ago, and which has confined him to his bed since November, last.

James Riley was born in Chambersburg, Penn., Oct. 21st, 1858, where he grew to manhood. Close to forty years ago he came to Ogle County and engaged in farming. In 1891, he was sunited in marriage with Miss Lena Spratler in this city, who continued with him as his help-mate in the farmhome with him until twenty years ago, when they left the farm and moved to Oregon where the home has since been made, and most of which time Mr. Riley was the caretaker of the public school building and grounds, where he was conscientious and faithful in his every duty and from which he will be geeatly missed by the faculty, students and citizens in general.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters and three sons, together with a host of friends who mourn his passing.
The funeral held Saturday from the home, the services being conducted by the Rev. George H. Williams, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
