James Weaver, 93, passed away at his home at 511 North Street, Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Mr. Weaver was one of Polo's oldest residents, having spent the last 67 years in this locality.
Funeral services were held from the home Sunday, April 14, at 2:30 o'clock with Reverend A. L. Warner officiating. Burial was made in Buffalo Grove Cemetery. Five sons and one son-in-law of the deceased served as pallbearers.
Mr. Weaver was born in Maryland, coming to this county when six years old. He was married 68 years ago to Miss Suzanne Samsel, also of Maryland. To that union eight children were born, all now living except a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Coursey, who passed away twelve years ago.
Besides the widow Mr. Weaver is survived by seven children: William Weaver, Polo; John Weaver of Defiance, Ohio; Frank Weaver of Polo; Elmer Weaver of Polo; Bert Weaver of Freeport; Mrs. Ed Hayes of Oregon and Mrs. Hazel Duffey of Eagle Point. Fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
On October 12, 1934, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver quietly observed the sixty-seventh anniversary of their marriage. In September of the same year, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver attended the "True Vow" picinic held at Freeport where they enjoyed the distinction of being the oldest couple present.
