Death of John C. Davis
The funeral of John C. Davis who died Thursday at the home of his son George Davis at Dubuque, Iowa was held Sunday afternoon in Byron at the M. E. Church. Rev. George Young officiated and the Byron A. F & ? conducted the services. He was born in England and came to this country when ten years of age. He bought a farm three miles northwest of Byron and lived there fifty-nine years retiring seventeen years ago and going to Chicago to make his home with his daughter, his wife having died about that time. He leaves five children to mourn his passing: Frank, who lives on the coast; Mrs. Dr. Mastin and Mrs. N. Limons of Chicago, George of Dubuque, Mrs. Ladra Gitchell of Byron, Minnie of Alabama and Mrs. Frank Emerson of this city. He was a 33rd degree Mason and always enjoyed the fraternal brotherhood.
