JOHN P. SPRECHER DIES
Services for John P. Sprecher, 89, retired Leaf River dry goods merchant, who died Monday in the Rochelle hospital, were held Thursday, June 1 at 2:p.m. in the Finch Funeral Home. The Rev. Leo Baldwin, pastor of Leaf River Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
Mr. Sprecher was born April 14, 1861, in Mt. Morris Township, the son of John and Lydia Sprecher.
In 1901 he owned and operated what was then known as the Sprecher Dry Goods store in Leaf River in the building which is now occupied by the Motter Clover Farm store. He retired in 1941, but still made his home in Leaf River.
His survivors are a sister, Mrs. Catherine Miller, Mt. Morris; three brothers, George Sprecher, Oregon, Wentworth and Charles, both of Mt. Morris.
