Obituary

John S. Myers, son of Jacob and Elizabeth Myers, was born August 11, 1850, and departed this life at his home near Egan, Ill., October 29, 1927 at the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 11 days. He was one of a family of 15 children, seven sons and eight daughters, all having preceded him in death but two sisters, Martha Grove and Katherine Schreiber. He was married January 7, 1874 to Elizabeth Humphrey. To this union were born two children, Geo. C. Myers of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Alice Wilson of Leaf River, Ill. He was converted and united with the North Grove Christian Church, April 1, 1884, and had served this church as deacon for many years. He leaves his widow, one son, one daughter, three grandchildren, many relatives, and a host of friends who will cherish his memory. Funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. R. W. Pittman.
