Jonas Petrie, a brother of Jacob Petrie of this city, (Polo, IL), and one of the early settlers in this County (Ogle) and for some years a resident of Forreston, died in his home in that city on Friday (July 23) morning after an illness of three weeks.Ogle County Press - July 31, 1880:
Jonas Petrie, Sen., was born in Washington County, Maryland, April 1st 1807; was united in marriage with Miss Emily Weaver, March 4th, 1830. He came to his county in 1840 where he lived a respected citizen and honored member of society until the time of his death, which occurred the 23rd day of July, 1880, his age being 73 years, 3 months, and 22 days. His funeral was very largely attended, nearly one half of those present being unable to find room in the church. The services were held in the United Brethren Church at Adeline, and conducted by Rev. H.D. Healy, assisted by Rev. Mrs. Scboch of Forreston. A very large circle of friends and relatives were present.Return to Ogle Co. Genealogy Site
