Another Old Settler Gone

Joseph O. Hill was born in Tioga Co., N.Y. Nov. 7, 1822 and died Feb. 12, 1896 of a complication of diseases, la grippe followed by pneumonia. He being 73 years 3 months 5 days old, he had not vitality to throw off the disease.

He moved to Ogle County, Ill. In 1854 and settled in the town of Lynnville where he resided until his death. He was married in 1865 to Miss Emma F. Haughton.

There were seven children born to them, five daughters and two sons. His wife and four of his daughters proceeded to the better land. The surviving daughter and two sons live in Lynnville.

Mr. Hill was an honest man. It has been said:

"An honest man is the noblest work of God."

A good neighbor and kind father, he will be missed in the neighborhood.

He was buried at Lynnville. The services were conducted by Rev. Hetrick of the M.E. Church at Kings. He preached from Psalms XC 12:

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."
